The 21st FIFA World Cup football kicks off in Moscow on 14 June, when first-time host Russia takes on Saudi Arabia, in its opening group A match, in the 81,000-capacity Luzhniki Stadium – also the venue for the final on 15 July.
Spread over 1,800 miles, 12 stadiums across Russia will host the 64 matches in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, contested among 32 finalists. Cup-holder Germany, which beat Argentina in Brazil to win the 2014 tournament, begins its campaign in group F, with a match against Mexico (17 June), while England – the only competing home nation – is up against Tunisia in its opening game in group G (18 June).
