Punk IPA was the beer which kick-started BrewDog’s revolution – and now it’s being rolled out on draught across our pubs.
To celebrate the arrival of one of the nation’s favourite craft beers on tap – here are five things you might not know about BrewDog:
One: They’ve been brewing for 11 years
It was in 2007 that, aged 24, Martin and James set up BrewDog and started bottling their own beer.
(Here, at Wetherspoon, we’re fast approaching the ripe young age of 40.)
Two: Six hops
There are six hops which give BrewDog Punk its tropical tone: Ahtanum, Amarillo, Cascade, Chinook, Nelson Sauvin and Simcoe. Try saying that after a pint…
Three: In the fridges
We’ve been selling Punk IPA, by the bottle, since October 2014. It’s one of our longest-serving craft bottles, alongside Lagunitas IPA and Brooklyn Lager.
Four: Success in Scandinavia
In 2009, BrewDog Punk was officially the top-selling IPA in Scandinavia.
Five: The mission
BrewDog states that its biggest mission, when setting up BrewDog, was to make other people as passionate about great craft beer as it is – and that’s still the brewery’s biggest mission today.
So, whether you’ve been a Punk IPA fan for a decade or have never tried the beer before – head down to your local Wetherspoon for a pint.
