Do I have to pay the sugar tax levy?
On 6 April 2018, the government introduced a sugar tax levy for drinks which were identified as containing 8 grams (or more) of added sugar content per 100 millilitres.
The following drinks suit the above criterion and so the sugar tax levy now applies. As a result, their prices have increased by an average of 10 pence, with effect from 6 April 2018.
- Pepsi: this excludes Pepsi Max, Pepsi Max cherry and Diet Pepsi.
- Monster and Monster Ripper: this excludes Monster Ultra.
- Club Orange and Lemon: this excludes Club Diet Orange (Republic of Ireland only)
No other soft drinks or juices are affected by the tax. Their prices have not been changed. The Calorie content of the food and drink we serve is detailed on our menus, the website and the Wetherspoon app. In addition, details of the sugar content, along with other nutritional information, of all of our food and drinks are available on our website.
